In an attempt to celebrate the centennial of Indian cinema Bollywood actors decided to go ethenic-heavy. But alas! It has weighed a bit too heavy, indeed.
Sonam Kapoor’s humongous nose ring, Vidya Balan’s over-sized lehenga with that veil; Mallika Sherawat’s plunging neck line, Big B’s shimmering suit…do we need more? And we still have a couple of days more to go!
Now the only hope rests on the Queen of Bollywood – the face of Indian cinema abroad – Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. But Ms Rai has a long list of faux pas at Cannes. Below are some pictures that capture her misplaced fashion sense at her previous outings at the event.
This is her chance to rewrite Cannes history, when she makes her 12th consecutive appearance. She will also be the guest of honour at a special evening celebrating 100 years of Indian cinema at Cannes on May 19, besides walking the red carpet on May 20.Billions will be waiting back home to watch Aishwarya do India proud on the occasion of the centennial. The beauty queen often got it all wrong when it came to walking the red carpet. This year too Ash has many media events to attend besides walking the red carpet and we hope with her mummy flab reasonably under control Aishwarya can make it right this time.
Let's take at a look at some of her fashion faux pas in the past at the French reverie.

Last year Aishwarya attended the 'Cosmopolis' premiere dressed in a dark grey clingy Elie Saab gown which accentuated her unflattering post pregnany curves. She carried it off with a lot of confidence but we were left with dissapointment.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in her first stint at Cannes was an utter disaster. The top knot, green sari and golden jewellry are a recipe for red carpet faux paux. (AFP)
Aishwarya Rai in this red and beige outfit seems to come out from a different era altogether.
What was this beauty thinking when she choose this dress. The skin show is not flattering and the bluge on her back is prominently visible. The cleavage display is also very unbecoming of Ash.
This make-up on Aishwarya Rai turns her pink. While the fuchsia pink gown was just manageable, her make-up ruins it all.
Aishwarya Rai looks like a bag of gold.
The midnight blue gown and a scary snake-inspired neckpiece didn't do anything to enhance Ash's beauty at 2006 Cannes. Rai showed some skin in a low-cut, see-through black lace dress.
The actress again made a fashion fiasco at the 63rd Cannes Film Festival with her hair done up in a huge puff.
