At the on going 66th annual Cannes Film Festival, Indian actors and directors are stealing the show, on the red carpet and otherwise.
As Nawazuddin joins his Kahaani co star Vidya Balan at the prestigious festival, the actor feels Vidya is one of the few actresses who has been saved from the petty roles actresses do in Bollywood. "Vidya has made her own identity and there are few like her. The way actresses are used in a film, it's like they are just there and do nothing much in the film", says Nawaz.
Vidya Balan is a part of the nine member jury at Cannes this year, which is spear headed by Steven Spielberg. She has impressed all including Nawazuddin. Talking about her big moment he adds, "I'm very excited about Vidya being at Cannes. This is the most prestigious festival and it's a big opportunity for her. It's a big honour for her and us. To be called there depends on the work you do and Vidya has the sensibilities and abilities as an actress. It's a big deal for anyone".
